Let’s be real: being a breastfeeding mom is hard enough!

Add that on top of pumping, you really have a lot going on!

From a fellow breastfeeding mom who also pumps and travels, I have to make sure I have the right travel essentials when I’m on the road.

With the right travel essentials, you too, will also be prepared to feed your baby throughout your trips, whether it’s a vacation trip or if you travel on the rv life like us!

Therefore, here are travel essentials for a breastfeeding mom!

Wearable pumps

If you can afford it, having wearable pumps is great on the road, especially while driving since you aren’t moving all that much anyways!

I won’t exactly recommend a certain wearable pump, but I will tell you that for me personally, I’m using the Willow Go pumps.

So far, they have worked pretty well for my milk supply!

Most insurances will cover your wearable pumps, so I would advise talking to your doctor about how to go about it.

Regardless, having a good wearable pump with a carrying case is great to have, especially to avoid missing a feed or preventing problems in your milk supply due to a missed pump session!

Not only that, but we wouldn’t want you to get any clogged ducts while traveling on the road!

Manual pump

God forbid you either forget to charge your wearable pumps or they die during mid pumping.

Personally, I like to ALWAYS carry a manual pump in my diaper backpack just in case I run across this scenario!

You can never be too overprepared for a situation like this. Plus, some moms have had great output with even just a manual pump!

Of course, there are many different types of manual pumps.

The one I use is the Lansinoh manual breast pump. I’ve used it a few times already in cases where my wearables weren’t available to use and it’s done great for me!

I would most certainly try out different manual pumps.

Luckily, they are quite inexpensive!

Breast pump wipes

When you’re on the road, doing the “fridge method” isn’t very doable and you won’t have access to a sink to clean your pumps in.

Therefore, having a pack of breast pump wipes in your travel bag is a great way to do a quick wipe down on your pumps!

I use them all the time and have had no issues with the cleanliness of my pumps.

I’ve used both brands before which were the Dabble and the Momcozy brand. Both worked great for wiping my breast pumps on the road!

Dapple Baby Unscented Breast Pump Cleaning Wipes

These cleaning wipes are easy to access in your local retail stores just in case you need to make a quick run throughout your travels!

Momcozy Natural Breast Pump Wipes

A great deal for multiple packs of wipes with clean ingredients, so that you know exactly what you’re using for your pump parts!

Breast pump brushes

In case you do end up in a hotel or have reached your destination, these breast pump brushes have worked great for my travels and don’t take up much space in my travel bag at all!

You have three types of brushes broken down in a bag for your pumps, bottles, nipples, and of course, for the nook and crannies of whatever you are trying to wash!

Again, these were used a lot when I went to visit family during the holidays!

Breastmilk cooler

I’ve talked about having a breastmilk cooler before, especially since it’s WAY easier to dump the milk in than dumping the milk in bags (trust me I was doing this for a while).

There are so many breastmilk coolers out there, so I would definitely do your research.

However, I just use this breastmilk cooler made by Willow since I’m already using their pumps!

I like this cooler because it’s sleek and fits well on the side of the diaper bag without being too bulky.

Just make sure to get a cooler that comes with a built-in ice pack so that your breastmilk stays cool on the road trip!

Bottle warmer

Again, another product I’ve mentioned before that was great to have on the road was a bottle warmer!

Especially if you have a baby that doesn’t like taking cold milk, it’s great to have when you need to quickly warm up a bottle!

Just make sure you have it all charged up before hitting the road!

Nursing bra

You don’t necessary NEED a nursing bra, but it’s great to have a few on the road.

One, just in case you leak through the one you are wearing, but also, just in case you do latch your baby throughout the road-trip.

The Momcozy ones are great to have if you want to avoid having your whole boob out!

Considering I wear these all the time, they are both comfortable and functionable!

Nursing pads

Regardless whether you are wearing a nursing bra or not, having nursing pads is a MUST if you are someone who leaks.

Because honestly, who wants to deal with leaky boobs throughout your road trip?

Traveling with a baby is enough as it is!

Nipple butter

Great to have for your chapped nipples or to create less friction with pumping!

This nipple butter by Earth Mama is, not only organic, but can be used for multiple purposes, such as for chapped heels, lips, and elbows!

Plus, it’s compact enough to pack in your traveling bag!
