When my husband and I decided RV life, I honestly had no clue how popular RV living was! In fact, I’ve met so many people in the RV community and honestly, even after RV living for almost half a year now, I can see why people chose to take on this type of living situation!
I’m having such a blast living in an RV and wanted to share the benefits since beginning my journey of RV living!
Here are the perks of RV living!
It’s no surprise that the cost of living has increased over the years and if your renting, rent has really skyrocketed since inflation! In my opinion, I much rather take action to beat the cost of inflation then to sit around and wait for someone (aka our government) to fix our state of living.
And some people have argued that RV living cost no differently than rent and I’d like the challenge that thought process.
Here’s the thing: depending on how new or old your camper is, if you took out a loan or paid the camper in cash, or where you park your camper, the cost of RV living is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than renting an apartment.
With an apartment, you have furniture, electricity (I know some campground resort makes you pay electricity, but it’s always been pretty affordable), maybe if you have a pet, you probably pay rent for your pet to stay with you, a down deposit when you first move into an apartment, and who knows what else on top of all that.
RV living comes with furniture installed so you don’t have to worry about finding some furniture for sale. Also, I’ve most definitely stayed at campgrounds for less than $500 a month and my cats are able to live with me for free!
I can go on and on about this topic, but my point is, is that RV living is significantly cheaper than living in most apartments these days.
Sure, it takes a little bit of maintenance, such as draining out your black and grey tanks, making sure you have plenty of propane, and making sure to keep up with any repairs that may need to be made, but I like to see this as a great learning lesson to bring with me when it comes to keeping up the maintenance of my future home!
If you hate cleaning, then RV living would be a great option for you, as long as you don’t mind living minimalistic.
I swear, when I had an apartment, it felt like I was endlessly cleaning SOMETHING. Even when I spring cleaned my apartment, it still felt like I had clutter and cleaning was just an annoyance that I could barely make time for on top of my busy schedule.
Since RV living, it takes me about an hour to clean the whole RV and WOW, do I feel so clear-minded!
If you are someone who wants to live a minimalistic lifestyle with easier, maintainable spaces, RV living might just be what you are looking for!
I know that as a cat mom, I can’t imagine leaving my babies behind. Unfortunately, this happens more often than not. There are so many people who leave behind their pets and it breaks my heart when I hear that people feel the need to do this just because where they are going doesn’t allow pets.
I, for one, still don’t think it’s an excuse to abandon an animal that they took on as a responsibility, but there are many other options out there to prevent this.
The perks of RV living are that your pets can come with you! I have had no issues with my cats being with me, since your fur baby will be in a camper that you own. Campgrounds don’t usually care if you have pets. You might have to pay a small fee, but that’s it.
Now, I have had campgrounds not really care about charging pets, but will ask how many pets we had with us.
Other than that, no problems with the cats being with us.
And if you’re a dog parent, there are maaaaany campgrounds that cater to dogs. I’ve seen dog parks and even stations for dog washes.
It’s so convenient for both owners and pets!
Even if you aren’t someone who is traveling around and are just staying put, just know that before you make a decision on what to do with your pet, RV living can be a great choice for you.
One of the biggest things I don’t miss with apartment living is hearing my neighbors through a thin wall. I had so many issues with neighbors and since RV living, I don’t run into that problem since people have their own individual living spaces.
I’m not saying you might not run into some weird ducks here and there, but at least you never have to hear them.
And for some campgrounds, there is usually a time limit on how loud you can be, which I honestly don’t find it a big deal. Personally, I don’t want to hear partying at 2 AM when people have to work or go to college in the morning.
With RV living, you get quiet living spaces. I literally don’t hear a peep anymore and it is just so divine!
I’m so happy to be out of those situations.
My last apartment situation: awful. Literally one of the worst experiences of my life.
It literally made me swear to never live in an apartment again. It’s either living in an RV or owning my own home, but I am never renting ever again.
Now, I’m not saying this is all landlords, but I know many people who have had bad experiences with landlords. From being scammed, to getting screwed over, even for unfair treatments and living situations.
At least with RV living, you get to choose your campground, where you want to park it, and if the people who work at the campground aren’t to your liking, at least you don’t have a long-term contract to stay with them.
It is freaking niiiiiice.
I much rather have a scenery full of natures, wild animals, greenery, and other parked RVs than be in a crowded city.
Depending on where you go, you might even get to park at a lake scenery for all you fishing fanatics.
When I started RV living, I got to wake up to some birds and the sound of chirping than the screams of my neighbors and people literally speeding in the parking lot.
Yup. I choose Mother Nature.
Thank you very much.
I mean you basically have a mobile home, so if you ever wanted to go on a road trip, you can easily do that!
And best part, you won’t have to pack for it since everything is already stored in your camper!
It really makes traveling to new places such a breeze!
So, if you are wanting to travel and need a place to stay for cheap, or hey, maybe you can’t find a pet sitter for your fur baby, you might like to give RV living a chance!
