4 Lessons You Can Learn From Traveling

It’s been almost a year since I started traveling on the road with my husband and I have already experienced so many different lessons out of traveling.

I knew I always wanted to travel, as I am a free spirit who wants to experience as much as possible! I’ve seen far too many times that life is too short to not enjoy it to the max.

Many people don’t think about traveling until retirement, but for me, after taking up a lot of sacrifices and getting through different challenges, I was able to travel with my husband full time on the road.

I personally believe, if you really want to travel the world, you absolutely can and will be able to find a way to travel more. I’m very optimistic and truly feel that when you put your mind to something, anything is possible, and that includes traveling more or even traveling full time.

Anyways, I want to talk about the lessons I have learned so far in my year of traveling, so that if you are ever thinking about doing it yourself, maybe, these lessons will help encourage you to do so!

So, here are four lessons you can learn from traveling!

Traveling humbles you

You can definitely see traveling as a humbling experience, especially if you have the funds to do so or a job that allows you traveling opportunities!

Not many people either want to or are able to due to personal or even family reasons, so I find it very humbling to be able to have the health, money, and lifestyle to be able to travel at a younger age.

I don’t take it for granted and I just live a very blessed life that I am so, so grateful for!

Which brings me to my lesson on traveling.

Traveling makes you practice gratitude

Again, if you have the health, money, and lifestyle to be able to travel more than the average person (or full-time), consider yourself very, very grateful.

I know many people who really envy the life that I get to live, just because they themselves either aren’t able to do so or have obligations that prevent them this lifestyle.

I think when you are able to see how much freedom your traveling lifestyle brings you, you will naturally find yourself so blessed to live such a life.

Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes traveling can be hard on someone, especially if you are a solo travel or if you rv travel like us and the camping lifestyle can bring on some challenges here and there.

However, I still wouldn’t take it for granted, even in those hard times.

Count every blessing you have while traveling, because as time goes on, you are just creating more memories you get to share later on in life!

Traveling makes you look at the world differently

Traveling makes you look at the world differently due to experiencing different cultures, people, and just learning new things along the way.

You find yourself becoming less judgmental and truly getting a glimpse in other people’s world, especially if you travel abroad.

I think traveling is a great way for you to have an open mindset, because far too often, people judge too quickly before actually experiencing something new.

If you end up traveling to places that are completely foreign to you, I think you’ll find that people can be a lot more accepting and loving then you think. It may not be the case for everywhere you go, but for the most part, people love to meet others that haven’t experienced their world.

It’s just so different and fun to see different cultures and how others live their life in different parts of the world.

Want to expand your perspective on the world?

Traveling can help you with that!

Traveling helps you overcome discomfort

Traveling can bring on a lot of uncertainty, especially if you are a solo traveler or are just traveling to new areas.

I feel like the most growth we go through is when we go through discomfort. Once you overcome discomfort however, it makes you feel like you are on top of the world!

This is one of my favorite lessons traveling has brought me.

My husband and I had to really get used to discomfort and uncertainty, especially when it comes to rv traveling in our camper. We had to learn a lot about the camping lifestyle, our rv camper, and traveling as a family with our precious kitties.

But honestly, it really made us feel like we can overcome anything at this point! It brings on this profound level of confidence that we are able to, not only problem solve, but make anything we come across on our journey work out in our favor!

Traveling may seem intimidating, but as long as you do your research and make sure you take the steps to have safe travels, then you too, can overcome anything that stands in your way!
